Rotate Pages

Fix sideways or upside-down pages by rotating the whole document or individual pages. Live preview shows exactly how your pages will look before you download.

How this tool works technically

Your file never leaves your device. This tool processes everything locally, in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server.

Fix sideways or upside-down PDF pages

It happens more than it should — someone scans a document sideways, exports a page from a phone in the wrong orientation, or merges files where one batch was rotated and the rest weren't. PDFLocal fixes it in the browser: pick a rotation angle, see it applied instantly in the preview, and download the corrected file without ever sending the document anywhere.

You can rotate the whole document in one pass, or target just the pages that are actually wrong. That second option matters more than it sounds — most sideways-page problems affect two or three pages out of a fifty-page file, not the whole thing, so rotating everything would just break the pages that were already fine.

How it works

  1. Upload the PDF that has pages facing the wrong way.
  2. Pick the rotation: 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise, or 180° for pages that are fully upside down.
  3. Choose whether to rotate every page or just specific ones — type page numbers or ranges like 1,3-5.
  4. Check the live preview to confirm it looks right.
  5. Click Rotate PDF and download the fixed file.

Rotating specific pages vs. the whole document

If every page came out sideways — common with scans from a feeder that grabbed the paper the wrong way — rotate the whole document and you're done in one step. But if it's just a page or two, use the page-range field instead of guessing. Typing 1,3-5 rotates page 1 and pages 3 through 5, leaving everything else untouched, which is usually exactly what you want after merging PDFs from different sources.

Does my PDF get uploaded?

No. The rotation happens locally in your browser using PDF.js — there's no server round-trip for the file itself, so nothing leaves your device. That's useful for contracts, ID scans, or anything else you'd rather not upload just to fix its orientation.

Common questions

Can I rotate different pages by different amounts?

Not in a single pass — each rotation you apply uses one angle for the pages you've selected. If you need page 2 rotated 90° and page 7 rotated 180°, run the tool twice: rotate page 2 first, download, then upload that file again and rotate page 7.

Will rotating a page affect its text or quality?

No. Rotation only changes the page's orientation metadata — the content itself, including any selectable text, stays exactly as sharp as the original.

How do I know which page numbers to enter?

The preview shows page numbers as you scroll through the document, so you can check before typing anything into the range field.

Do I need an account or software install?

No. It runs entirely in the page you're on now — no sign-up, no download, no extension.
